The commute that gives back..

LinkToRide is the app that connects you with colleagues sharing the same route to work. Drivers don’t charge money—instead, the distance traveled together turns into donations for a cause chosen directly in the app. Fewer cars in traffic, more meaning in every journey.

Why LinkToRide Exists

The daily commute is the most visible waste in our cities

Every morning, lines of cars head toward the exact same office buildings—with just one person in each vehicle. Same time, same routes, thousands of empty seats. We all pay for this waste, in three distinct ways:

01

Money.

Fuel, wear and tear, parking—a daily 20-kilometer round trip adds up over a year to the cost of a full vacation. And everyone pays for it alone, on a journey that ten others nearby are making at the exact same time.

02

Time and stress.

Every extra car on the road means slower traffic for everyone. Sitting alone in gridlock is, for many, the single most exhausting part of the workday.

03

City air quality.

Transportation is among the largest sources of urban emissions, and single-occupancy commuting is its least efficient form. One full car takes two to three other vehicles off the road.

LinkToRide exists to turn this waste into impact: shared commutes, reduced emissions, and donations for causes that truly need them.

Guide: How It Works, Step by Step

From installation to your first donation in five simple steps.

01

Install the App

Free on iOS and Android. Setting up your account takes just two minutes—via email, Google, or Facebook—with simple email and phone verification. No subscriptions, no hidden fees, and zero registration costs.

02

Choose Your Role for the Day

Driver or passenger. Your role isn’t permanent: today you drive, tomorrow someone else takes the wheel. Switch roles anytime directly in the app. Drivers also select the charitable cause supported by their rides.

03

Find Your Commute Partners

The app matches you with rides along your exact route—scheduled in advance or found on the spot. You travel with verified users featuring full profiles, trip history, and two-way reviews; often, they're your own coworkers. You always choose who you ride with.

04

Ride On. The App Tracks the Rest

Distance is tracked automatically, calculating a set contribution per kilometer for every trip. Important: drivers never collect money from passengers—all collected funds turn into donations. Everything is settled seamlessly once a month through the app.

05

Every Commute Leaves a Positive Impact

Contributions go directly to the organization selected by the driver. You can check anytime how many kilometers you've shared and the total impact generated by your journeys.

Our Donation Model, Transparently Explained

Where the money goes—and why drivers never collect payouts..

The model is public and forms the cornerstone of our platform: passengers do not pay the driver, and drivers do not collect cash—as outlined in our Terms and Conditions. Every shared kilometer generates a contribution—0.5 RON/km with two people in the car, 0.9 RON/km with three, and 1.2 RON/km with four—which goes directly to the organization selected by the driver in the app.

Two people in the car 0,5 RON / km
Three people in the car 0,9 RON / km
Four people in the car 1,2 RON / km

The Balance Rule

If you have traveled as a passenger over 1,000 km more than as a driver, your contribution per kilometer doubles. This rule encourages role swapping.

No User Fees

The platform does not charge any fees to its users. A standard administrative fee is deducted from the collected funds to cover payment processing and operational costs.

Supported Causes

23 organizations are currently listed in the app and eligible for donations..

Drivers select their cause directly in the app, and the contributions generated by shared rides go directly to it.

Who LinkToRide Is For

One Journey Two Perspectives.

Employee

For you, making the daily commute.

  • If your employer is a LinkToRide partner, the company can cover the cost of your rides—turning your commute into a company benefit while generated contributions support your chosen cause in the app.
  • You can also use the app independently: your contribution per kilometer turns into a donation rather than a lost expense.
  • Have a car? As a driver, you don't collect payouts—instead, you select the cause, turning a route you were already taking into donations and good company along the way.
